Just thought I would post a couple pic's of a bird I shot Monday afternoon around 2:30 pm.
I shocked him into gobbling one time and I thought he was done.I was just getting ready to move on and when I got ready to stand up I looked to my left and seen him coming about 300 yd's away.I made one more good set of call's and got him to gobble a couple more time's and I was able to watch him strutt alot, that was cool.Anyway he stood strutting for about 10 minute's or so then slowly made his way right on in to me and I dropped him at about 30 yd's.He wieghed around 22 or 23 and had a 11" beard and had 1 spur busted off with the other being a little over an inch or so.
I'm a believer in the afternoon shift,I'v shot over half my bird's in late morning on through until as late as 7 pm.

I think I've killed 90% of my toms just before noon. Early morning the hens often fly down with the toms, but later on they head off to "lay an egg" or whatever and Mr. Tom get's lonely!
Great pics, I like the old rake scene!

My wife shot a 30lb gobbler in Appanoose county at 7AM on opening morning. Had an 11 inch beard and 1 and an eigth spurs. Only pictures I have are in a digital throw away camera but I will try to post them when developed. The bird is frozen whole.

Congratulations! Looks like a great bird. My first bird that I ever shot was at 11am. It is a great time to find a lonely tom and call him in. Good harvest photos also!

Congrats on your spring turkey harvest Roy!
