Opinion on Debate???

Ron Paul is looking better every day!

Maybe I will get a second chance to vote for Jesse "The Body" Ventura in 2012! /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/tired.gif /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/tired.gif /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

It's not rocket science, the facts are these:

In 2003 the Bush administration urged sweeping regulation overhauls to specifically target Fannie and Freddie. The idea was to create a specific oversight agency. At the time it was called "the most significant regulatory overhaul in the housing finance industry since the savings and loan crisis". It stalled.

McCain co-sponsored the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005. Again, the target was Fannie and Freddie. McCain made this quote at that time:

"For years I have been concerned about the regulatory structure that governs Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac--known as Government-sponsored entities or GSEs--and the sheer magnitude of these companies and the role they play in the housing market. OFHEO's report this week does nothing to ease these concerns. In fact, the report does quite the contrary. OFHEO's report solidifies my view that the GSEs need to be reformed without delay.
I join as a cosponsor of the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005, S. 1 90, to underscore my support for quick passage of GSE regulatory reform legislation. If Congress does not act, American taxpayers will continue to be exposed to the enormous risk that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac pose to the housing market, the overall financial system, and the economy as a whole. I urge my colleagues to support swift action on this GSE reform legislation."

Unfortunately it was hung up in committee for purposes of pocket lining via kickbacks from the organizations in question. The liberal news media has a steel pair to act as though the Bush administration and "deregulating Republicans" are to blame when it was Republicans all along that pushed for legislation that the other side ignored. They wonder why we complain of the obvious slant in the press? This is the pinnacle example that our concerns have been warranted. When and if the smoke clears on this thing, McCain has rockets the size of Dallas to use in the case for his foresight and ability to lead. Interesting to see if it'll come out in the first debate.

My grandmother, God bless her, has said that she couldn't vote for Obama because she "didn't want to see a black woman as first lady". Now I love my grandmother regardless of her despicable view, but at least she is being openly honest, and perhaps she has an excuse for her racism, being that she lived much of her life before the civil rights movement, when segregation was alive and well in America. The rest of us don't have that luxury, if you can call it that. So what's our excuse?

Our grandmothers represent a different era. Unfortunately for our families their time is quickly coming to an end. However, our generation and the ones that follow need to let go of our grandmothers' line of thinking and face the reality that we are the next minority in this country. Most of our ancestors were the veritable "Omars" that you speak of... except maybe their surnames were: O'Malley, McCain, Killian, Svoboda, Dvorak, Novak, Novotny, Bachmeier, Brandt, Friedman, Klein, Allen... America's bedrock is an immigrant society, and many came here to avoid religious persecution; regardless of the fact that Obama is a christian, have we taken a step back on that particular front? Your statement about "Omar" seems to imply that we have made little progress in 232 years.

To answer an earlier question, as to why you might consider voting for Obama. If you watched the debate last night you will have seen two entirely different world views expressed by the candidates. My feeling is that this is a new time, and that we can't afford to play by the old rules.

I thought "John" took the prize last night. Obama didn't site any experience, past bills or ideas that I noticed. He also got tongue tied a lot. He is slicker than slick Willy with a teleprompter, but when off the cuff he comes back to earth.

The one thing I wonder about is the tax cuts for all people making under 250K. I think most of us would fit in that income bracket and if true that would benefit us. I'm skeptical though of promised Tax cuts from any Demoncat.

Most other redistribution of wealth ideas is where he loses me.

I think it has nothing to do with racism, rather, its some of the ideas and belief systems other cultures have that we may want to keep subdued in our country. Ask people in Deerborne, Michigan what tolerance has gotten them. Its a free country so people with different beliefs are welcome to them. However, we are not obligated to except them at all costs.

Multi-Generational american families are the people who founded the country and set the belief systems and laws we operate under. I would venture to say that most of us in the hunting community would just like to see our way of life protected. I feel that the cop out race-baiting that takes place in politicss today is sad. People are judged as individuals first, if they happen to fit into a stereotype after that, so be it, but to blame problems on racism today is pathetic. In reality, programs like affirmative action and the like put minorities ahead of the average "white male" in so many ways.

Protection of our borders, language and culture is the only way to maintain what we have today. IMO, we are full, if you don't have a trade or skill why would we encourage more people to flood into our country? I may have opened pandoras box here. Sorry. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Naw, the one I got is made of 18/10 commercial grade steel.

Like I've said before, if you don't want to hear a difference of opinion, talk to a mirror or PM your buddy, so you can both agree how right you are and how wrong other people are. Now if you want to repeal the 1st amendment, contact your congressmen, although I'm willing to guess they are a bit preoccupied at the moment. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

On a better topic, I wish you the best of luck come Oct. 1 /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif

Avid,
Everytime I ask why I should change my vote I never get a straight answer. I was looking for straight up front reasons why to change my vote but looks like there really is no good reason??

To be honest I expected that but am willing to listen.

Good luck to you also this up coming season.
