Elvis nailed that. He misspoke though… KS has way more big bucks than iowa!!!

. Plus…. If you own 80 acres or more you can get a guaranteed tag as a NRLO.
KS is a mixed bag….
I personally think KS is insane for doing that. It’s throwing Residents out of the sport by the truck load every year + segmentation of land into 80’s! ONE BUCK on the other hand is brilliant!!!!! Corn piles littering the land scape …. insanity!!! Late gun season… amazing. It’s wild how one state can get so many things right & wrong at the same time. KS bottom line: it’s the 2nd best run state in the country. With MAJOR flaws!!! But that demonstrates how bad so many others are managed.
Its main downfall that COULD be its end: the resource is FOR SALE. They are always trying these stupid things like “every land owner gets tags to sell to highest bidder” - to their credit - some of those foolish things do get reversed. I’ve seen it really struggle in 25 years. 20 more years of sectioning up 80’s so you get guaranteed tags & continuing to bomb the landscape with corn piles…. Gonna keep hurting it. It’s gone downhill in last 10-20 years- much like iowa. Probably worse in east 1/3rd of state. I’m very concerned what will come of ks. & that’s with 1 buck. But heck, we still have debate here where folks panic if we dial back 3+ buck tags per person (2 acres for a landowner which is insane IMHO) + party buck tags (unlimited if u find people that get tags) & an urban buck. 1 buck is great In KS & easy to solve the “management buck” issue by having youth hunters or guests hunt those bucks. Even as a NRLO of KS we can find 20 people willing to shoot a management buck for every buck we’d like to shoot. Residents are glad to shoot them as they have lost so much access
