Outback problem

I'm having an issue with my outback. The string is going past the suppressor on the idler wheel. I was also wondering what the diameter of the idler wheel is on the outback. It looks like it is to small, the suppressor arms is way beyond the edge of the cam.

no problem with my outback shoots fine but i replace my string evey year

From what I have read on other websites, they used too many strands on the stings, I believe they said they used like 22 or 24, when only 16-18 were needed??????

SWIABOONER,

It's your string. I had the same thing happen. Your string stretched, lengthening your ATA and shortening your BH. In doing so, the string makes more contact with the suppressors. Is you bow getting loader too?

If you call Mathews, they will tell you to press your bow and put 8 twists in each end of the string and each end of the cable. Doing that is supposed to bring the bow back into spec. It didn't come close to fixing mine. I replaced the Zebra string set with Winner's Choice and fixed the problem for good. Look in this section for my "Mathews Outback Owners" post. It will explain it all. DLO

I knew what the "problem" was going to be before I looked at the post.

If you buy an Outback, plan on buying a new string and cables as well. You won't be alone. All the rest of us Outback owners have had or will have the same problem.

When are the manufacturers going to get smart and start putting better strings on their products. It's ridiculous you spend so much money to buy a brand new bow then have to drop more money on a new string and cable right away.

I agree Monsterbuck!

They do say though, the Switchback doesn't exibit the same fault. I don't know if Mathews put different strings on it or not.

After I put the WC strings on the Outback, I couldn't be happier. I looked at the Switchback today when I was a Scheels stocking up on diaphram calls. It's a little too long ATA for me but nice non -the -less.

The Switchback has the new Zebra Barracuda string on it but from what the owner of the local pro shop said it's not that great either. He replaced his string and cable on his after just six weeks of shooting it.
