p41 problems

OK, I posted last year I was having problems with a home brew p41 cam not firing the flash at night and this year it's only firing about 1/4 of the time. Is there any way to replace the flash or could the board and sensitivity knob be the problem?

If anyone has any idea how to fix this please let me know. After 5 or 6 dozen night photos of blackness I feel as if I'm really missing something!

Not to hijack your thread muddy, but my p41 died last year and I bought another one ebay but haven't had the confidence to bust into it to replace my other one. Anyone out there really good at this that'd like to talk me through it?

Can you see the lightning bolt on the screen? Make sure you have the flash turned on the camera. When is the last time you changed the 9V on the board?

Man, Just imagine how many booners are sitting there in the Darkness. What a shame ;) Mine acted up like that once. It took nothing but dark pictures. I guess I haven't had the problem since and all I did was replace the batteries, mess with the sensitivity, fidget with the board, and checked all the camera settings. I still don't know what the culprit was.

Have you taken the camera out and manually used it in a dark room to see if it flashes everytime? I think that could eliminate a few possibilites. I would say if it is on autoflash and not firing when you have the camera in your hand, then it is about to go.

Ghost - the lightning bolt is turned on, there is no "ghostbuster" sign around it either. I put fresh batteries in the cam and board before I set it out and then I just swapped them out on Saturday.

Liv - the flash works normally every time if I'm using it in a darkened room.

I would mess with the board and sensitivity but I'm afraid I'd mess it up even further.

if the flash is not working in the cam but is working outside the camera case, your flash is not bad, it is a setting on the board or camera.

Make sure the power save setting is turned OFF. If it is on, it will not keep the flash charged up.

Something you think you could talk me through over the phone?

How do I check this?

Muddy,
Its pretty easy, just look thru the settings and you will find it. Id give you the steps, but i dont have a 41 here in front of me.
