Paintin the Jeep

Just a thought I had run through my mind. I used to drive a '92 jeep cherokee when i was 16. When I bought my new jeep I parked it and now i have a car for "economical" reasons, YUCK! So I was thinking of taking out the old jeep and turning that into my november dec jan vehicle and I wanted to camo paint it and stuff. I don't need anything special, I am ok with it being a Hick mobile, but was just curious if anyone had any ideas for me. Like how to go about painting it and stuff.

The new Cabelas Master Fall catalog has camo painting kits from Krylon. They have flexible stencils and around 6 different patterns to choose from. I think it was in the boating section. Good luck, post pics of the before and after for us.

I happen to know that this salty looking fellow painted his pickup with cans of spray paint while holding leaves onto the metal for the stencil.

Well it depends on how much $$ you wanna spend. If ya want it to last I'd get 'er warshed up real nice like and then dry it up and then clean it again with a rag and a cleaning solvent like acetone (be careful with that stuff... might get a contact high) then primer it all up, let it dry and apply your paint. And if you feel like going crazy get some no-gloss lacquer or paint sealer to make it stay a while. But if you want it to be completely hicked out don't worry about all that stuff and just spray paint big blotches of black brown and green and top it off with either a confederate flag window sticker or a NASCAR sticker with the number of your favorite driver.

I'm not expert but I think those steps would help "hick your ride"

I'll post a pic of mine tomorrow. I used flat paint, then I airbrushed in some trees. Oh and something added on the door too.

Ya gotta love OD paint jobs, over dent and over dirt.

Careful not to get carpel tunnell from shaking those rattle cans.

I know a guy who used flattened out beer cans and pop-rivets to cover up rust holes before his camo paint job. "You might be a redneck if............."
