I guess you can have it both ways....this is from Scent Lok's FAQ on their website:
"Loose fitting boots can puff scent from within the boot and into the hunting area if not covered properly. We suggest hunters to cover the boots with the Scent-Lok pant leg to capture any odors trying to escape the inside of the boot.
However, many hunters prefer knee-high ankle fit rubber boots because of creeks or wet grasses and ferns when walking to stands. It can be acceptable to tuck pant legs into these types of boots so long as there is a good, tight fit so that air is not billowing out of the boot."
