Peacock and Pileated woodpecker calls

Anyone tried these two for locators? I vaguely remember hearing of them somewhere. I recieved a midwest ??? catalog today and seen a couple choices. Just curious, even if I have field my tags I love hearing an ole tom sound off while morel hunting.

I would personally stick with an owl call for locating in the dawn/dusk times. Otherwise I use a hawk.

I have both them and a few other "oddities"...sometimes they work...but so does slamming the truck door at times. I can't say I've ever killed a tom because of one. Just something different when they have heard every owl call in the country!

Three years ago my dad was hunting Norhtern IL and was working a group of toms when out of the blue he hears a very loud and weird noise that he had never heard before. It continutes for some time (he said it was terrribly loud) and finally after about 20 minutes he caught movement. Thinking it was a turkey he got situated to make a shot, then he saw a big peacock checking him and his setup out. It continued barking or whatever the hell they do, but he said that he never heard another tom gobble once the peacock started making noise. He said they were so fired up before that the only thing he could think of is that the peacock call scared them more than anything.

Thanks gents. I like the owl call I have prior to fly-down. I was just checking out other options for later in the morning. Sounds like I will just save my money. Any other experiences with a hawk scream?
