I'm not suggesting anything about someone personally, people have bad shots, that's a fact. I was just inquiring b/c your post made it sound as though mechanicals will fail when to close to shoulder etc..where as fixed blade will not. </div></div>

You are making personal suggestions. Talking about being an elitist or badmouthing people in response to my post...who were you talking about then&gt;? Absolutly on a leg, or glance a fixed head will stand up better, everytime! If you hit shoulder smack in the center, nothing is going through.

I'm not sure what you mean? </div></div>

It appered you were hoping there was some mystical excuse for poor arrow placement.

I know......
<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Personally, after harvesting 2 deer I would not yet have an abundence of confidence in anything, wait till you hit a little to close to the shoulder, </div></div>

It is just as it says, nothing negative to it, after dozens of deer, personally if I had shot 2 or 3 deer with a certian head, arrow, bow, whatever, I would not yet be confident in that product. Thats it, I think your stretching if you read further into it. Re-read your stuff and see who is badmouthing who!

Well as we all know, shot placement is key. It really doesn't matter what broadhed you use if you hit them right. My uncle shot a big 8pt one morning with a field point and it went 20 yards and piled up. It was a mistake on his part when he forgot he took a practice shot the evening before and put the field point in his normal expandable broadhead spot in his quiver.

I have always been a muzzy man until recently. Last year when preparing for my elk trip I could not get them to fly. I could barely even get them together properly. I thought I had gotten a bad batch, so I bought a new batch, same thing. My dad bought a package of them and they didn't go together well either and didn't fly worth a darn, so I switched to rage. I should of contacted muzzy because my old ones were perfect, the new ones were not.

So far the rages have worked well with complete pass thrus but I haven't made a poor hit yet. I was all gung ho to use them again, which I will but this past weekend my buddy hit a doe in the rump and the Rage completely snapped in half. I didn't think that was possible, or I should say I have never seen it on any kind of head. He didn't recover the deer either We tracked it over a half mile. It was a bad shot, what do you do.

I guess in the end it all comes down to what you are confident in. You have to be confident in everything from the bow to yourself. I do know though, If I shoot a head and it routinely fails such as falls apart, blades break etc. I will switch heads to something else.

Come on guys its not worth argueing over. Anything can and will work on a perfect shot and anything can fail on a not so perfect shot, there is no magic combonation of arrow and broadhead. There are some broadheads that probably work better than others and thats decided on blade sharpness, angle and strength not mechanical or fixed. But the absolute truth is that the more damage done the quicker and cleaner the kill will be, not all bows are created equal and have the energy to through a 2" head completely through a deer but those that can SHOULD have better results than when shooting a smaller diameter head. And not to put you on the spot saskbowhunter but some setups WILL break through the point of the shoulder and even more, Ive shot two different deer completely through the shoulder completely destroying the bone and joint and also got a pass through but I have also shot them in the exact same place and only got 4" of penetration. The only difference is the pass through was with a mech head and an #80 bow and the 4" was with a fixed and #70 bow.
