Pheasants Forever Unveils Commemorative CRP Logo

Pheasants Forever has unveiled a special commemorative logo celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP). The logo will be displayed by Pheasants Forever at events throughout the next year, beginning this month at National Pheasant Fest 2011.

The special logo bears resemblance to Pheasants Forever's trademarked silo logo, with a redesigned interior depicting pheasants and quail with a farm backdrop, all in patriotic colors. "CRP has been successful due in large part to the efforts of Pheasants Forever chapters and members and thousands of conservation-minded farmers, ranchers, and landowners, and Pheasants Forever has been successful at its habitat mission because of CRP," said Dave Nomsen, Pheasants Forever's Vice President of Government Affairs, "This logo captures what's right about CRP, its wildlife habitat legacy and its imprint in rural America."

National Pheasant Fest, Pheasants Forever's largest event, comes to the Qwest Center in Omaha, Nebraska, January 28, 29 & 30. Pheasants Forever will have a series of habitat seminars at the show, covering CRP contracts from enrolling to planting to managing. A special Landowner Habitat Help Room will allow landowners to see what federal conservation programs they may qualify for, including CRP. "Pheasant Fest is the largest event in the country for pheasant hunters, conservationists and sport dog owners, all stakeholders in the future of CRP," Nomsen said, "It's the perfect event to celebrate CRP's accomplishments and reinvigorate support for the program going forward."

A voluntary program for agricultural landowners, CRP celebrated its official 25th anniversary on December 23, 2010. An early supporter of the conservation program - and what many conservationists consider the most effective large-scale conservation initiative in modern times - Pheasants Forever will continue to be a strong advocate of the program into this new decade. "Our mission is conserving wildlife habitat, and CRP is responsible for 30-plus million acres of it nationally," Nomsen said, "And in an era where every government program is under the microscope, CRP pays for itself countless times over in terms of protecting sensitive topsoil, keeping waters clean and giving wildlife places to call home."

Pheasants Forever's commemorative CRP 25th anniversary logo was designed by Rosalie Wolff, Pheasants Forever's graphic artist.
