I need some advise folks. We just got a new pc and the photo softwear it has is pathetic at best. Being a tight a$$, what's out there thats free, works good, and is easy to use for a tech challenged person as myself?

What are you looking to do? ImageJ recognizes many image file formats and will allow you to resize photos, adjust brightness and contrast, crop images, etc. It is free and if you look at the URL carefully, you will see that it is hosted by NIH (National Institute of Health). Therefore you don't get any spyware or advertising downloaded with it. I use it a fair amount.

I bought a small Canon color flatbed scanner (Canoscan LiDE 30)for about $80 bucks a year or two ago. The scanner does a heck of a nice job -- only has a USB cable and doesn't need a power cord. It came with Arcsoft studio software that, while not as powerful as Photoshop, will still let you do about 80-85% of what Photoshop does.
Can't go wrong!

Works great, easiest editing program I've ever tried and it'll do a lot of stuff but not so much you get lost in details. A must have for trail cams because you can brighten things up and see things you didn't even know were in the pics. It's good for all pic uses though. You can also create albums that are viewable on the web and make them public or private so only certain people can see them. Best of all it's free!
