Anyone have some corn/bean varieties they’ve been liking from Pioneer?
Local dealer can get me a decent deal.

I'm no help. Haven't grown Pioneer for quite a few years. We have planted 100% channel for quite a while. Are talking about for plots or for commercial purposes?
I know the couple around me won’t give it away- they want astronomical prices for bags- but also now they do “plot” seed bags too for this reason and still want way too much. Last year the local conservation gave away left over bags to people who would plant it but not harvest. Worth checking in to that tooWay back when I food plotted, a local seed dealer would give away opened bags that other clients had returned. Most are treated so you are not supposed to trash them. Maybe he was the exception. Might get a later start on planting, but if it is food plot, any bushel loss isn't a huge financial deal.
Way back when, I contacted Pheasants Forever and the guy alluded that he would want to hunt I I got free seed from him, so thus it wasn't so free.Last year the local conservation gave away left over bags to people who would plant it but not harvest. Worth checking in to that too
Yeah I wouldn’t do pheasants forever- they have to pay for their seed. The county conservations don’t (at least not the 2 counties I work with up here)Way back when, I contacted Pheasants Forever and the guy alluded that he would want to hunt I I got free seed from him, so thus it wasn't so free.
The corn you buy for planting is a hybrid. The corn harvested from those hybrids is not. If you plant that you will be very disappointed. Besides it more than likely being a violation of the tech agreement the farmer signed when buying those hybrids. Why not buy from a farmer when he harvest the seed, store in a cool place, and plant it the following year?
Corn that way would be $4.00 a bushel.
For one thing, that's not legal. The genetics of every seed company is patented. Why not buy from a farmer when he harvest the seed, store in a cool place, and plant it the following year?

That’s true but I doubt anyone will know. Most people are only planting small plots and not for profit. For one thing, that's not legal. The genetics of every seed company is patented.
