So, mid April, I scatter seeded corn into my alfalfa stand, (which was pretty short at the time), and ran a disc over it. The corn gemination rate was better than I anticipated, and it's nearly as tall as the alfalfa, (which is about ready to be cut).
My idea is to not cut / bale it this year, if the corn continues to grow, and just bale it all for silage late this winter or early next spring.
My concern is that the alfalfa is extremely thick and looks like it will shade and smother out the corn from this point on.
Has anyone else done this, and if so, what were your results?
Worst case scenario is the corn is snuffed out and I bale as usual.
