Playing dead doesn't always work

Caught this sequence of 2 opossums trying to play dead - only one of them got away with it...

Opposums are truly dumb creatures. They had a tree right there that they could've just climbed up and been out of harm's way.

I love that sequence, it's hilarious.

I love the middle picture. The coyote is walking away from the 1st opposum which has abandoned the "playing dead" technique and adopted the "run like hell" technique instead. Maybe the second opossum should have tried the same technique when the 'yote was investigating his friend instead of laying there waiting for his inspection.
