Poachers busted!

Handcannon, all that comes up is the member login page for the paper.

I thought that would happen, it worked when I tried it. This isn't word for word, but you get the idea. Anyways...
As reported in the Sioux City Journal on Saturday - 5 people ages 17 to 21 were cited for poaching deer.
Nov. 29, Gunshot at 1:13 a.m. awakens officer at his home. (Brilliant, pure genius)
One of them, Tyler Ohl of Bronson, was arrested. The officers confiscated 3 deer heads (one of them measured 172"), 38 racoons, a turkey, a box of antlers, & at least 11 live snakes.
Ohl has 13 charges against him. Hunting out of season at night (2 counts), within city limits, use of a spotlight, use of a highpower rifle, using a suspended license (for shooting a deer from a car last year), carrying a dangerous weapon, improper conveyance of a weapon, abandonment of dead or injured wildlife, shooting over a highway, hunting within 100 to 150 feet from a house, possesing furs w/ out a license, deer tag violation (2 counts), & trespassing.
The other 3, Lee Williams, Travis Guffy, Joshua Feste received tickets for their participation & for hunting w/ artificial light. $147 each for that.
The 4th, Nicholas Salmen, was cited for killing a 152" buck.
Another deer was found, but the person that killed it is working out of town. He'll get surprised when he or she gets back.
This gonna cost Ohl & Salmen some serious money. A buck measuring 150" or less demands a fine of $2000 to $10,000. A buck measuring more than 150" demands a fine of $5000 to $20,000. And you get your license suspended or revoked in Iowa & 18 other cooperating states. Also the fine for each turkey & racoon is $200.
I love to see that some stupid punks got busted for this. The buck to doe ratio in my area is low enough already.

I have it as a email and was going to try and get it posted. I may need some help with that though, not exactly sure how to attach it.

I read the article in the paper when I was at my in-laws for supper. When we left there, I got a call from a buddy of mine ( Allen) , who's a vet. He's got a clinic north of Sioux City right across the road from the 10 acres we are going to build a house on. I got to talking with him and he mentioned that he chased a truck down the night before to get a tag # after being at his friend's house. They saw someone shining with a high candlepower light and heard a shot. My buddies friend happens to be the Sioux City police officer( mentioned in the newspaper article) who's house the shot was taken so close to. Long story short...Allen did a great job, although running 85 mph on a county road, at night, after armed poachers probably isn't the smartest thing in the world to do, if he hadn't, the DNR would never have known who the offenders were, and the arrests would never have happened. Good job Allen!

If you want to read a really good book about such things, get a copy of the book Poachers Caught by Tom Chapin.

Some of the stuff he did makes a 85 mph chase on gravel look like child's play.
