I guess it's our job to police the world, and destroy all evil, when we can't even get it right here at home? /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif

As a matter of fact it HAS become our job. We didn't ask for the job, we didn't even want to job. We will in fact make many mistakes while trying to do this job, but we are out there trying and we are a whole lot better then the alternative. What would you have us do? Did you forget the thousands of pounds of yellow urainium that we got out of Iraq just a few months ago?

"when we can't even get it right here at home?"

BTW Avid, whens the last time you went out into your community and helped someone you didn't know, and expected nothing in return?

Avid,

Your comment displays your young age, lack of experience, and/or your lack of knowledge regarding our history and responsibilities in the world. Do we have problems here at home, absolutely, but this country is without doubt the greatest place to live in the world. I don't see immigrants dying trying to cross the borders of any other land but this one.

I know as a part of my profession extreme Muslims are a threat to our way of life and the west in general. Our enemies have learned that they cannot meet our military head to head on defined battle lines. Instead, they use guerilla type tactics hiding any country that will permit, utilizing schools, hospitals, and churches as safe havens. Also, remember it is not out of the realm of possibility for long time adversaries like China or Russia to employ these radical thinkers to do their dirty work.

For 8 eight years we watched, beginning in 1993 with the first World Trade Center bombing, as terrorists attacked us at home and our interests abroad with virtually no response. Well, in 2001 we fought back and kill extremist terrorists everyday, diminishing the next attack here that may take the life of one of your loved ones. Just as the video stated, "freedom isn't free", every so often we ask our fellow countrymen to preserve it. God Bless them all and God Bless the USA.

Every time I suit up in turnout gear and fight fire...or respond to a 10-50 PI... you?

I'm tired of us being the world's policemen... time to bring most of our troops home and fix our own country. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif

Troy,
Thanks for your two decades of service devoted to preserving our nation's freedom!

Sometime people forget that it's ok to have disagreements and differences of opinion. The fact of the matter is that no one is "right" when it comes to politics. We disagree. So it goes. It has nothing whatsoever to do with age, or life experience somehow conferring an objective truth to ones opinion.

Certainly our experiences and time lines shape our views, but they do not diminish another man's ability to draw an entirely different and yet no less legitimate conclusion, given the historical evidence. Claiming otherwise is simply an insult.
