I’d be shooting. Mostly because it’s the cheapest cat an Iowa boy could ever kill. But after one I’d let them walk.
That being said I’ve been hunting in cat areas the last couple springs with plenty of tracks. It’s a little nerve wracking in the dark but I’ve also encountered one in Colorado and it tucked tail and ran. There’s a reason there’s not a lot of in person sightings even with all the western hunters spending hours glassing.
