Pond cams

I started my pond cams last week and the critters are cooperating pretty well. Along with the usual woodies, I've got a pair of blue winged teal and a pair of geese. I'm only about halfway through the weeks pics but I've got a few favorites so far. Roughly 10k pics between the two cams this week. I am surprised the geese have a nest with four eggs along the shore about twenty feet from where our not so welcome otters are sliding into the pond.

Really cool pics, thanks for sharing. I should do that too around my big pond. I have placed several new wood duck houses out and a goose nesting platform too. So I should be able to get something like you are getting.

FWIW, I had a pair of geese nest on my pond bank last year but I later found a BUNCH of goose feathers in the area and I never saw them again or any goslings. So I am pretty sure that some hungry predator had a good meal. I suspect that the success ratio of ground nests for geese is low. I am hopeful that the "official" nesting platform will let a pair be successful this year. Keep the pics coming.

Thanks guys. Went through about 15k pics today. Things should start greening up and I think there could be some great pics soon. The geese now have 6 eggs in the nest. Last year I had a wood duck hen with 22 or so ducklings and they steadily decreased for a week nor so then I didn't see any more. I'd guess an otter or possibly a mink got them. There are definitely more ducks sticking around here this year. Also I can't get over the size of these turtles. I know these are small ducks but still the turtles are as big as I've seen. I also got my first picture sequence ever of an owl catching and preparing to eat a fish.

Very cool pics! Thank you for sharing!
Just curious, how do you have your camera set up/what do you have it mounted to? I'm planning on doing this on our pond.

I've really been slacking on pulling cards lately. I probably have 30k pics to go through but tonight when I was mushroom hunting I noticed the nest was empty other than a few pieces of eggshell. I pulled the nest cam and wasn't disappointed to see what went down.

Cool video! FWIW, I had a nesting pair of geese on my pond bank last year and they kind of disappeared, so I ventured over to the area where the nest was and ultimately found a pile of goose feathers about 50 yards away from where the nest was. I don't know for sure what went down as I didn't go full CSI on the scene :)...but it didn't look like the geese made out as well as yours did. I never saw any goslings either. Ruh-ro.
