Portable targets

I have shot fixed blades and expandables into my block and my dad and brothers block 4x4. They do a little better in the original block and they don't phase the 4x4, the only problem is I tend to loose my rubber bands that are used to hold the rockets shut.

As far as the Yellow Jacket broadhead target goes there is something in the design that it just isn't made to have field points shot into it. Guess they want you to have to buy their bag target for field tips...

and it's cheaper than the block?

I think the Yellow Jacket for broadhead runs about $40 which is quite a bit less than the block I bought. I should have just taken those three $20 bills and lit them on fire.

I bought a plain Jane at Fleet Farm for 29 bucks. Shot it with field tips about a 100 times and 40 broadheads into it an its just fine.

The layered foam thing is not that complication and can't see what I would gain by spending an additional $70 for a block target.

Several years ago the "Block target" was selling for 1/2 that price it is today.

I suppose ya got to pay for the "Block Party" and all that stuff I guess.

Good Luck.

I also have the block 4x4 and my expierience with it is that broadheads DO shred it up pretty good. Although I have had it for a couple of years and it still stops arrows. When it doesn't I will be trying a Yellow Jacket. I also have a Glendel full rut target, and I love it for field points. I sure wouldn't consider it portable though.

Kinda like if you've ever shot and arrow into the bottom of a Block and tried to pull it out. It ain't easy.

I don't know about the original block, but the 4x4 has a piece of plywood on the bottom. I tore mine apart trying to get a new broadhead out of it that hit way too low.

In my opinion, to get the most bang for your buck buy a Morrell Yellow Jacket Broadhead target ($39.99) and a Yellow Jacket Field Point Target ($34.99) For way less than the money of a block you have two targets that run special duty. When one wears out you only have to replace that one. I have sold several of the Block 4X4 Pro's and people have not been very happy with them. One guy told me his $40 Morrel outlasted the block by a huge margin for a fraction of the price. If you only want to shoot field points, the block works fine but if you want to shoot broadheads they shred up pretty fast. McKenzie just came out with a new "block-like" target that is blue but I haven't had a chance to field test it yet so will withold comment on it - I hear it is very nice for a price somewhere in between the two.

i use the morrell broadhead target, and a delta deadstop bag target, for field tips. i have a small bagtarget and a big one. got them cheap as hell at the end of 3d season from the mid iowa archers.

The Block targets must use better foam than the cheapy layered targets because there is a difference in them for sure. For portable field point use you couldnt beat a small Block target.

My Yellow Jacket is fine for broadheads, still working on the same side after 2 years, buts is showing wear. Thats about all I can ask for $40 and I'm convinced broadheads will trash any target eventually. These guys arent kidding though, if you shoot a field point into a YJ you will wish you hadnt! I do it about once a year just to torture myself.
