Well I am headed back to put cameras back out again tomorrow. I have seen quite a few coyote tracks and some other strange tracks in the timber. So here is the question, I am picking up another camera for giggles and am planning to try to bait predators in front of it. Question is, will placing any meat type stuff out effect deer? I am going to a location I haven't had a camera in before but just wondered if deer would be bothered!
Second, what would you use for bait? I am thinking of hanging left over uncooked thanksgiving turkey I won last year, and maybe a chicken from Hy-vee or two. Then possibly even some old breasted duck meat... Will this even bring in anything besides coons?

It may seem strange, but I normally don't hunt around alot of predators and am dying to get a coyote or anything else with teeth with my bow. I am hoping there are some here and I can get pictures to at least get my hopes up!

Anyone else ever done something this dumb before?(the new wife actually liked the idea, and agreed I could get another camera for this, so I am going hog wild on this in hopes of pictures. Maybe she'll let me buy more if it works!!!!!!!!!)

I have some great trail cam photos of coyotes, but I usually don't bait for them until later in the winter when I have deer carcasses to get rid of. Everything from possums, crows, and red-tailed hawks visit these bait piles too. Good luck, hope to see some photos soon.
 
Pretty tought to keep the bait fresh in this weather but if you are right on location they might come right in. I would guess you are going to have a pile of maggots within 48 hours though.
 
Got a mineral lick? There's no end to what they attract here, deer, bears, birds and lots of these.

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe talk to your locker about beef bones. The bigger the better and not as much "meat" to turn sour. Use some wire to keep them together and keep the smaller critters from dragging them off.
 
I have a friend that saves all the carp he bowshoots and baits the coyotes with it and then shoots the coyotes with his .223. He said the fish have been drawing in the yotes real good.
 
Well I think I am going to take some meat, and some bones and risk it! Hopefully there are lots of predators out there and they get to it early!! Also hope everyone enjoys work. I am hooking up the 4-wheeler and am on the road by noon to go place cameras and scout! Hopefully we get some neat predators!!!!
