Prescribed Burn - Backpack Blower Recommendations

Pretty much. Husqvarna has one that is a hair "stronger" lower velocity but more air for a total of 47 newtons versus the 41 newtons of the Stihl. The still is much quieter. Like 75 dB versus 110 dB.

Is the consensus still the Stihl 800 C-E? Don’t think they’re making anything bigger that I have found.

Yes! Love mine.

Just hit the gas and start walking, will part any sea of leaves like Moses..

I bought the Stihl 800 in the fall mostly for leaf cleanup around the yard. It is not the CE though just the regular 800. I didn't see much need for the pull start option while on my back. I think the C-E is supposed to be a bit more comfortable but I've worn mine for a couple hours at a time and never really had any problem with comfort. I've been impressed with the amount of leaves that thing can move. Used it a couple weeks ago to clear wet leaves off some plots I plan to frost seed clover into and last night to clear the snow off the driveway. And of course would be great for clearing fire breaks eventually. One of those things I wished I would have just forked over the money and got a long time ago.

The 800 is a bad piece of equipment. It will blow all your leaves into your neighbors yard, down the road, in the next county....on a side note when doing burns I would highly recommend also having a backpack sprayer, seems to work a lot better at putting the embers and flames out quickly. Also saves your hedge fence posts

Yup, make a wet line before starting your fire.

Had a quad with 25 gal sprayer w/ gun this spring. Worked like a charm. Could snipe runaway flames from 10yds away. Was actually a ton of fun and super effective!

Is that an access trail to a stand? When do you clear it? I've always loved the idea, but been gun shy about the middle of season intrusion needed to actually do it.

Yep, access trail. I blow all mine clear in Feb/March after the season and most bucks leave our farm. Then great early to mid season until the leaves start to fall.

The 800 C-E is great, more padding / better harness and I personally love the quick start feature while wearing.

I just looked at the new Stihl catalog....The BR 800x is nearly 3lbs lighter than the C-E. Stihl is diving hard into the electric world. They have a new BRA 600.
BRA 600- Electric
Run Time- 17 mins at full boost mode
Blowing Force- 35 newtons

BR 800 x- Gas
Run time- Until tank is empty 67.6 oz tank
Blowing Force- 41 Newtons

Br800x is about 650-700$
Unknown Price on BRA600

Only 17 minutes of use?

That’s cute. But hard pass.
