Wild Wings Third Annual Youth Wildlife Art Contest
February 16-18, 2001 in Des Moines, Iowa
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEÅ Budding wildlife artists, bring your work to
the Iowa Deer Classic and enter into the Wild Wings Third Annual
Youth Wildlife Contest, February 16-18, 2001! A special area of the
Polk County Convention Complex has been set aside just for you.
Publishers and artists from Wild Wings, the nation's leading
publisher of wildlife art, will be on-hand to judge and critique
entries in all flat mediums - oil, watercolor, pen & ink, pencil
sketches, lithographs and even photographs can be entered. Contest
entry is FREE with paid admission.
Entries will be accepted at the show beginning 4:00 pm Friday and
close at 11:00 am Sunday. Hundreds of dollars in prizes and trophies
will be awarded in several categories, including a framed edition of
Rosemary Millette's newest print, "In The Storm - Whitetail Deer."
The Awards Program will be held on Sunday afternoon at 3:30 pm;
however, you do not need to be present at the Awards Program to win.
This exciting contest is a great way for Iowa's youth to showcase
their skills to the over 20,000 attendees of the Iowa Deer Classic,
and to have their work critiqued and reviewed by experienced wildlife
art publishers. The contest is open to youth ages 18 years and under
only. Artists should bring their work to the Information Booth on
the Lower Level to enter. All work will be returned after 3:00 pm
on Sunday. Entries should not be framed.
At the Classic, contest participants will be able to meet and talk
wildlife art with several accomplished and published wildlife artists
from Wild Wings. Proud sponsor of this great opportunity for Iowa's
young artists, Wild Wings opened its doors in 1968 as one of the
first American publishing houses of wildlife and sporting art. Wild
Wings has been fortunate to work with some of the most talented

Classic, where attendees will be treated to a full days worth of
activities including world-class seminar stages, wildlife art
displays, tons of outdoor & hunting exhibitors, taxidermy displays,
archery events, shooting events, hundreds of door prizesÅ and we
haven't mentioned the bucks!
Attendees will marvel at Iowa's finest Boone & Crockett whitetail
deer in the Whitetail Hall of Fame, and the Big Buck Contest draws
hundreds more quality trophies! Plus, the breathtaking Legendary
Whitetails Freak Collection will be on display - 32 of the most
unique, interesting, twisted and bizarre racks in the worldÅ never
before seen in Iowa.
The exhibit floor is a wealth of great products, goods and services
for the whitetail hunter and enthusiast. This year's speaker line-up
includes North America's finest including Byron Ferguson's archery
trick shooting, Brenda Valentine from Bowhunter magazine, Sam
Collora, Stan Potts and Pat Reeve from H.S. Pro Staff, and many more!
Plus, the Polk County Convention Complex is a state-of-the-art
facility in the heart of downtown's modern skywalks. Visitors walk
