Has anybody seen the Ultimate Outdoors issue out right now? It has country music singer Aaron Tippin on the cover. In the feature article he talks about how excited he is to be going on an elk hunt this september for ultimate outdoors tv show. An elk hunt, how exciting! Oh, did I mention it's in Iowa?

Yeah, I didn't realize Iowa had an elk season either, let alone a population of free ranging elk. Should be a great experience walking out into some game farms high fenced pasture and shooting an elk grazing there. Bet that will make some riveting tv!

Be sure to tune in next week folks when we'll be hunting herefords!

Makes me sick. I'll never watch their crappy show and Aaron Tippin is no hunter in my mind. No respectable hunter would have anything to do with this fiasco!

SOme folks have never had a fair chase hunt...ever...and would quickly give up the outdoors if it were not as easy as high fence hunting. Would just love to see those folks attitudes when the hunting is tough and things are slow in the woods.

Some people are in it for the kill, others (like the most of us) are in it for the love of the hunt and outdoors.

You did'nt know about the Elk herd in Iowa? The DNR has been releasing them for years now. Bad enough we have everybody tooting their horns about Iowa's whitetails, but now we have trophy elk?

Reminds me of a pheasant hunt I went on in South Dakota on a company sponsored trip. The birds were released the night before and had no concept of danger. I was hunting with a bunch of people who looked like they fell off page 37 of the Cabela's catalog. The birds would run to the end of the rows and stand there until the drivers pushed them out. They would come up 15-20 at a time. One of the birds a person shot had the beak guard on it that was put on it when it was in captivity. It could see to the sides but not straight in front. We weren't hunting.

I heard the elk herd was getting out of control so the dnr released mt. lions to control them. I can only imagine what will happen when the insurance companies get word of these elk running around.

Any idea where this imitation hunt took place?

Good thing he's going in September, I here the weather pushes them out of the high country later in the season.

Roll Camera.

Hunter gets in ATV and rides over hill to back pasture. Glasses elk grazing at feed bunks. Pulls out rangefinder and checks distance - 42 yards. Centers bull elk in scope of .338 Win Mag high power rifle. BAM!

Cut to footage of hunter and guide celebrating a "great" shot.

Cut to footage of hunter holding antlers describing the excitement and intensity of the "hunt".

Cut, that's a wrap.

Be sure to join us next week when we'll bring you another celebrity personality we will be taking on a safari hunt at the Des Moines Zoo.
