I would put NE Iowa public land up against quite a bit of private throughout this state. Spent a weekend up there this spring with the wife and it is gorgeous, rough country.

Quality buck right there - congralutions.

first and foremost thanks alot to you Iowa guys for letting me come and hunt your great state.i hope that Iowa doesnt fall to the whims of Wis and decide to let everyone hunt, it will ruin what you have. Dont let them bring in wolves either, my hunting up here is crawling with them now.. i got to spend 6 days there in NE Iowa and it was the funnest time i had with bow. i spent 41 hours in stand in those 5 days, saw 13 bucks the last three days i hunted. they were really starting to move good when i got this one. I spent 5 minutes in the stand the day i got him and i let a nice 8 go before i shot him. It was great.. he started to leave and follow the 8 and that primos can, if you dont have one get on i have called in my last 4 bucks with that. legitimately, they were leaving and came back, this guy did too from 45 yard right to my best shooting lane at 18, gotta love those spitfire 100's eh wapsi guy? anyway i wanted a p/y buck but decided if a bigger buck than i had ever killed came in i would take him and this dude fits that category and im tickled to get him. started thinking about Iowa when i was a kid and decided to do it alone so nobody would follow me there. I still tell everyone i went to clinton hunting, our secrets are safe gundog!!!! my hunt went just exactly as i wanted..Thanks to our Lord too as He definately was with me..You guys need to give gundog a big pat on the back, he helped out alot with some questions i had on the public side of this....thanks again dude for posting this also

Stringleech, when the discussion comes up (and it will) about expanding our NR hunting opportunities you can call the state house and senate members that are on the DNR committee and tell them what you think from a NR view. Nice buck and glad you had a great trip to Iowa.

Nice buck STRINGLEACH, I am glad Iowa treated you well. I am sad to hear that's how things have gone in Wis. for you. I gotta tell you, I just took a trip through your state to visit my sis in Brookfield (Milwaukee) and it is so beutiful and it looks like there could be so many big deer opportunities with all the timber and terrain. It's too bad that it is not managed better by the heads at the state level there. But way to go and you are right, NE IA is awesome. I was there a few years ago and saw some true giant bucks, just wasn't able to make the shot on one.

Don't tell them it was from Clinton. Theres no deer in Clinton County! LOL Congrats and draw another tag!
