I have my first season gun tag in Iowa this year (very excited) im hunting public land in and around the boones forks area. What can I expect? Seeing any deer there?

There are lots of deer in that area. I have a buddy that lives close to there. You shouldnt have a problem gettin on a deer.

Just don't be in my spot when that weekend rolls around :drink2::moon::D

We hunt around there, quite a few deer, and some natural funnels. Seems like we always get some out of there.

Two counties sw of there is Elk Grove. I live 14 miles from there. 1600 acres of public ground. Take a compass. Lot of deer in that area. During shotgun season I've had great success sitting somewhere b4 sunrise and letting the late sleepers chase the deer to me. First day of first season you will see your most deer there. It gets hit hard so ambushes work great. Good luck.......................ck

All good info, thanks. Would anyone in that area ne interested in a trade. 100# of fresh gulf shrimp, for private land hunting?

Can't offer any good private ground. I'm originally from fla. and fresh shrimp would be great. I can offer 30 plus years knowledge of Elk Grove and some guided hunts if you like. Can't promise a giant, but you will fill your tag. There are some giants in there. And b4 someone brings it up, I know I need a tag to guide............ck

Wow, that is a good offer, I love shrimp, but my farm is not in that area/zone.

Reminds me of Forrest Gump...shrimp scampi, shrimp salad, butterflied shrimp, grilled shrimp...
