This is the 3rd year I have planted pumpkins. They have definitely discovered a palate for them this year.

This is the 3rd year I have planted pumpkins. They have definitely discovered a palate for them this year.

I think this is my 3rd year with pumpkins too. We finally got enough rain, and I have dozens of pumpkins that we left in the plot. Between the pumpkins and the brassica plot next to it has the most deer in it at my place since the snow.

I planted more pumpkins this year then ever before. Bout an acre n half total on 4 properties.
They grew great this year. The deer have them all eaten.

I had to fence my 2 acre patch off… once they find them and get to have a taste, it’s tough to keep them out (at least here). I don’t have a single one left out there as of yesterday.

I never had a problem with deer browsing on the plants untill last year.
Not sure why? But they did start and this year also. However, the plants still managed to produce fruit. I put out stinky shirts in my plots during july/ August and that helped tremendously.
I have way to many deer here.

Tonnage wise per acre, I think a good pumpkin plot is hard to beat.
