Question about a shot

Friend shot a deer tonight with a muzzy. Buck bounded off over the hill out of sight for 100 yards. No blood where he was standing and for first 50 yards of where he ran over the hill. Any chance for a happy ending here?

I found very little blood on mine. If the shot was even a shade high it takes time to fill up the body cavity. I sure wouldn't give up hope yet.
