Question about harvest pictures...

Do any of you guys have mixed feelings about posting your harvest pictures? Two years ago I had a good friend who shot a HUGE nine point that grossed over 185. I asked him for permission to post the picture on this site and he politely said, "No way!"

He doesn't live in Kansas btw, and he said he didn't want anyone recognizing him and eventually finding his honey-hole. I've had similar feelings about posting pictures -- it was a good two years before I finally decided to put a picture on my avatar. Are there any of you fella's who like looking at everyone else's deer, but would never put one of your own on here? No offense to you Iowans but I know of at least one guy up your way who can't stand all the pictures of Iowa deer on this site -- not that it's any secret anymore the size of the deer in your state.

The way I look at it is that the deer is dead and no one is taking that away from me. Ive never killed two deer in the same spot anyway and usually never hunt the spot again.

There is no stopping it. People one way for another will find out or have an idea where you killed it. There are plenty of greedy people in this world and there is no way of getting away from them. Usually the greedy ones are the ones that don't want to put the work into and just steal of others.

You know I have conteplated what you are talking about many times. That you want to celebrate the killing of your Buck with everyone but some just take as many notes as they can as to where you killed that one and move ii to that area.
Other states like MN,WI, and MI i noticed those guys from there very reluctant to letting anyone know where they hunt because hunting is so competitive in those states.
In IA we have the pleasure of access to ground, lots of big deer in every part of the state, and the hunting is not whored out.
Because of this I will celebrate with my deer but when I start to have to compete to hunt on ground then I'll probably keep my mouth shut and no one will know what I kill except my wife because she helps with the taxi bill.
With the internet and shows everyone knows IA has big deer now. 10 yrs ago no one knew about IA and bowhunting was unreal. You would ask a farmer to bowhunt there ground and they would chuckle and say "go try"
Times are changing and I'll change with them as it comes. Basically if NR tags open up i'm done with the internet broadcasting of my deer.

I dont shoot anything big enough for anyone to even want to try to find where I hunt

So I really don't care if I post photos. I hunt all across this state, I can shoot a buck anywhere, it would be like playing the game where's Waldo at, if someone tried to follow all the spots that I hunt

One slob is usually a freak occurance, when I hear of many than I may perk up an ear, but rarely, if ever, act on it. You still need to gain access. And like LIV, I really don't shoot anything that anybody else is going to care about.

Remember....paranoya can destroya. I've really never worried about such a thing. I'll join the crowd with saying I've never shot anything that big myself anyway.

That is why I am on the Iowa site and not showing pics over on an Indiana sight. I would be screwed if any locals saw my trail cam pics.
