First of all, Let me take time to say "Hello". I haven't had a chance since joining to post and figure better late than never
.
Due to the reckless actions of other hunters (putting 2 shotgun slugs in the side of the farmers house), I have found my pleasant deer filled fall vacation spot in the hills, closed off to anyone who had hunted it before.
I have therefore been forced to retreat to the state ground I grew up squirrel, rabbit, and Deer (shotgun) hunting when I was a kid.
Upon returning to the place where I "cut" my hunting teeth many moons ago. I was astonished to see the 400 or so acres of fields within its boundries full of Corn/beans. I have been pounding it out 4 to 5 times a week since opening day.Lugging my climbing stand and bow for what seems like days at a time from North to South and East to West,Ever looking for that "sweet spot". I have settled in to a 100yd x 500 yd swath of small trees and high grass, about 50 yds off of a bean field where there is a line of rubs and scrapes that go for about 100 yds sporaticly from NW to SE. In the last month, I've seen some massive buck sign ,but only does.
I was just curious of any tactics that have proven true for hunting standing crops.
Any help that could be passed along my way would be greatly appreciated.
