Question about the current stage of the rut in MO.

How close are we to prime time rut in Missouri? I have noticed in the last week an explosion in the number of scrapes and rubs are increasing as well.

The rut date in Missouri should not be much, if any, different than it is here in Iowa. I would say that starting today you should be in your stand(s) as much as possible through Nov. 14 or so. Peak breeding will happen for a few days and then the chase will be back on until the first of December.

Thank you for the info. I was out Sunday morning and had a spike come in under my stand and eat acorns for about and hour. He was very edgey and alert the entire time. Half way through his stay he began to stare into a known bedding area and low and behold here came to yearlings blowing out of it. I thought here we go. They ran to him and kept looking back. I hoped for mom and Big daddy to come busting out of the beds but it never happened

Watched a 145-150 ten with a bedded doe in a ravine not 30 yards off a busy street this morning on my way to work. This was WELL within city limits or I would have been late to work after attempting a stalk. Went back at lunch and the pair was still there after watching what I can only assume was a couple hundred cars, trucks and semi's pass within spitting distance during the morning hours. I would say the first does must be right there for that buck to be that bold. It is really amazing what you can see during this time of the year if you are paying attention. Taking my first partial day tomorrow morning.
