Question for pheasant hunters

buckwheat,

Answer to your question: many different breeds of pointers could be great dogs to hunt behind. I favor shorthairs because I've had excellent luck with them. I have enjoyed many great days afield with them. That said, pointers in general require much more training in the early years in order to have the results you want. You can buy started or trained dogs to take this chore away from you, but of course, you'll pay for this. Good luck.

I have had an english setter for 12 years now and yes she does go on running spurts every now and then but when there are birds around she is great, holds point beautifully and minds well when it gets serious.
