We have farm cats and if they wondered off and died that way it would suck. I'm sure our Labs would find it.
 
I've never heard of cats or dogs touching the stuff but I suppose there is a first for everything. We use that in our sweet corn, works good.

We are now up to 17 coons killed in our machine shed and there are still more.
 
Live trap them and move them to a shallow grave


The best idea. Poison is just too risky, there is no reason to kill everything that gets into it.
 
I have live traps set every night. Today I was scraping the hen house floor, when I heard my dog give his special bark in the corn crib. He had another dang woodchuck cornered under the trough in the floor. I still had my scraper and it stopped right under a six inch gap in the slats. WHAM! It's true that woodchucks will eat your eggs during the day and the coons will get them at night. Never used a scraper as a weapon before. Worked very well.............ck
 
Was camping up by Decorah this past weekend. Our campground was overrun by coons. they ate everything in sight including opening our coolers. After gaining permission from the park owners we decided to get some payback! I chummed the edge of the timber with mouth fulls of left over sweetcorn. the bore came in first to check to see if the coast was clear, then retreated to get the rest of the clan. bout 15 mins later her came the whole fam-dam. I patiently waited motionless by my bait with a 18in piece of birtch in hand. Well lets just say i didnt miss the 2 by my feet. Coulda had more but i was dealing with Drunk Campers too! It was a Blast needless to say!!!
