Rattling

I just had a few questions on rattling. For those that rattle what do you prefer or think works better? rattle bags or real horns? and if real horns does it matter how big they are?

i honestly dont think it makes a difference. both work just fine,

however, i think real horns make the most realistic sound and the noise carries further than a bag.

but i take both real horns and a rattle bag with me. i put the rattle bag in one of my cargo pockets and if a buck is on alert or near by yet needs some additional coaxing, i will reach down and use those when big bulky antlers arent the best option.

thanks a lot. i have been using my rattle bag and it hasnt't been to succesful. i didnt really wana carry my horns to the stand but i mite give it a try this weekend

I've used both and been unsuccessful with both at times. Because of convenience, I use a rattle bag and it has been rather successful at times.

I feel the louder the better. Smack that thing against the tree...it will carry far enough. I can't get rattling antlers to go as loud as my rattle bag when I bang it against the tree and scrape the bark. I suppose if I had a set of 70" horns in my hand it might make it easier too! /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Bottom line is there has to be bucks in the area, and if they're in the area, they have to be interested...more often than not, nothing comes in...but in the case this year, it was a little different and it was very rewarding.
