Rattling...

Not too late. I like rattling if I see one I need to come in obviously but - blind, I like late AM right before I get out.

Yeah, I'm talking about in the context of blind rattling.

I'd really like to call when it first gets light. But, I don't want to scare any bucks away that might not be in the mood.

Also, I'd like to use some E-Bleats but that may be to much calling.

What do you guys think?

I've never really had any success with rattling.

So here's another question...is the "bag of horns" worthwhile, or are real antlers the way to go?

IMO id go with the real antlers. I prefer the bag over plastic horns or that weird lookin gray rattle thing but real antlers are alot louder if theyre big enough. Id recomend sawing off the brow tines.. I found that out the hard way and kept stabbing my hands every time I clashed em together

Well, This morning was the best morning by far. I had an encounter with a big one. him and another buck came to investigate my rattling. Unfortunately, the wind was not in my favor this morning and the buck trotted off after a long stint of him standing in the tall grass.

I'm bummed but eager to get out this afternoon.

Guys, is it to early to go after this buck? I talked to the local Conservation officer and he said he'd go after him tonight.

What do you guys think? Should I head out tonight or wait till tomorrow morning?

I rattled in 4 different bucks on Saturday between 1:00 pm and dark. All blind called to within shooting range. I use real antlers and always set up to discourage them from checking me out from down wind. Use a bluff or steep creek bank as a border. Lots of cruising bucks looking for those last does. :way:
