Check this ruling out. I dont agree with it one bit, however, too many people are sue happy and out to get easy money. I have heard stories like this on more than once occassion. A few ignorant people like this (or the lawyer) can just tick you off! But take the high road.

Call the Sherrif or the DNR and let them be on the case..if you see them on your property call them immeadiately.

The nail trick wouldn't be intending to harm, it would harm the vehicle, not the people. There's no way I'd ever set something up to clothesline someone. Taking air out of their tires? Absolutely! :D
 
Too bad I don't live close by I'd be happy to come take care of your problem just for the fun of teacing them a lesson. I'd hate to see what the parents of these people were or are like. If they are driving in the same spot do the nails in the board but use old lumber and rusty nails, (they were just laying there :D) bury them in the truck tracks where they drive not where they park so they don't step on them. Damn I wish I was closer. :D

Not quite sure what to make of this. Are you saying you have nothing to lose by being sued?

Get what ya give.... Exactly my point. If you take bad advice, you will get screwed later.
 
For real here, the best solution for effectiveness, penalizing, safety, etc is to get a camera or better yet a camcorder and film everything- that's filming vehicles, dead deer if there is any, the people, license plates, etc. You need to be getting tough and eliminate this problem asap. Trail cams & a video camera come in very handy. Simply do your part and get the lock-solid evidence & at the same time be calling the sheriff. I'd be calling the sheriff the second you notice them, film during the 10 minutes it takes for sheriff to get there and let the law take care of them. Prosecute these monkeys and be diligent to do all you can to stop this non-sense.
 
Don't let them off easy again. The only way you will get rid of this problem is if everyone knows you prosecute tresspassers.

And if you go with nails through the boards, get rid of them before the authorities show up.
