You can still put in for a Doe tag. If for no other reason than spending time on your Iowa hunting spot to better improve your chances when you do draw that buck tag. Just a thought, I know one off my hunting partners will be doing just that.
Thanks for the link guys, Now I have (or at least my brother) has a dilema. Heres the situation. He did not draw for a license two years ago and received a preference point, he skipped last year becuse of family reasons, and this year he didn`t draw again. It also showed that he didnt have any points, if he had recieved credit for his point he should have had; he would have drawn becuase, I knew of some guys that drew with zero points this year. Anybody know who we can call or check with to try and get this cleared up ?

IF YOU WERE 100% SURE I WOULD ENCOURAGE MY BROTHER TO BUY A DOE TAG...BUT HE WOULD KILL ME IF YOU LOST HIS 2 POINTS. iT MAY HAVE CHANGED LAST YEAR???
I'm 100% sure. Rack and I didn't get drawn so he called the DNR and they said you apply the 19th of July for nonresident nonlandowners (July 5th if you are a nonres landowner) and it does not take your points. If in doubt give them a call. 1.515.281.5918
DOR Did you and your brother apply on the same application for the same zone.
I guess I was of the understanding if you applied on the same application if one of you were drawn the both of you would have drawn, especially given your pref points that you had. Someone please correct me if I am wrong. My Uncle and his friend had no points and hunted last year also. They both got drawn this year for zone 4 with no points. They were both on the same application.
thanks rackaddict....my brother and i applied seperatly. he is the only guy i have seen who got denied in zone 9 bow season that had a point. now he has 2. the poor guy just bought a new razortec and now he will have to chase the rare 2 1/2 yearold in MN. again thanks guys
DOR, I agree with headgear. You DONT lose your point if you put in for a doe. I got a doe tag last year and drew with my 1 pref. point this year. Shot a whopper of a doe too and almost as much fun as getting a big buck.
