Revisit of Fanny Packs

I am thinking of upgrading my pack. Is the Badlands Monster still the pack of choice for all or is there a better option?

I want to carry 12-15 steps, GL2 camera (sometimes), strap clothes and jacket to it, attach horns....etc.

Any opinions?

Only knock agaist the Monster is the lack of a mesh pocket similar to the Nanno for a water bottle. I have an older style, the newer ones are different so I can't say, but they still don't have a water bottle pocket. If they did I'd upgrade in a heart beat.

Mine has two straps on the bottom for this purpose. Last year I always strapped my jacket on and it worked great. There is also a strap on the top that could be used for this.

Can't remember if I have ever strapped anything to the bottom, but as I recall the straps are about like the 2200. It is out in the garage and I'm not so I can't say for sure.

I love my Badlands Nano pack.... larger than the pictures appear.. I looked at the Monster pack and it was too big for my single day outings.... the Nano has a lot of storage and nice built-in compartments. I roll up my outer coat, etc. and strap in on the bottom with the attached straps. Works great in my opinion... /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif

For an afternoon short walk to the stand you can't beat the nanno, but on those days when I may need more stuff, as in setting up a stand, all day pack-a-lunch sit (I eat big lunches) warmer clothes etc I switch over to the monster. I belive there are some folks who use the monster while shed hunting too.

Still kicking around purchasing the big terraglide. I need a big duffel to pack two weeks of "stuff" in. I could get the same overall size but without as nice a carry/pocket system or the lifetime garauntee. Lotta money though for something I may use 2-3 times a year.

Here is another option I am looking at. The reviews say that if you are an average size man with a 33-34 inch waist it will be to big for you. Anybody have one? Its on sale for 69.99 right now and I have cabelas points to cover that. I may have to try it.

Looks like a nice pack but it's hard to beat a Badlands warranty. I love my monster fanny. Also keep in mind having detachable shoulder straps. Looks like the cabelas one has them. When I'm packing in the lone wolf and sticks I will take the shoulder strap off and flip the pack around.
