I recently traded for a Rossi to put under the tree this year for my son(s). My oldest is 5 now, and i plan to take him on youth deer in '17. This gun has a 20ga, .243, and .22 barrel. Im sure the 20 ga barrel with managed recoil slugs will do him just fine in a years time, but i want to explore the option of a ML barrel too as i can adjust the load even more for a younger shooter. Just curious if anyone has one of these with the ML barrel, and how it performs with a lighter load before i attempt to locate one to purchase.
Also, how much powder are you running for the younger kids? If the ML barrel works out, im planning to use a 200g TC shockwave sabot. I know that bullet groups really well with 100g out of my Omega. I think 100g is super light as far as recoil, but still too rough on a 6 yr old. Is 50g too light? I prob wont let him shoot past 30 yds max, unless he keeps gettting better with his bb gun and during summer practice.
I'll punch plenty of holes with it myself beforehand and try others combinations. Just looking for a starting point from guys who have already "been there done that"
Thanks in advance!
