I've received three email replies stating they oppose the bill and the bill has been pulled... for today...
Here's the email I sent - seems so black and white to me how fragile this quality resource is. There's a crazy number of nonresidents compared to residents. Not everyone can enjoy the resource as much and often as they want, the resource can't take that level of demand. The supply will be gone instantly. Every single person looses, resident hunters, non-resident hunters, business owners, etc.
"I am not anti-nonresident. I had great friends who are nonresidents and love hunting this state and I love hunting with them. I wish IA’s highly sought after deer hunting resource was 100x times more prevalent than it is today, but we don’t. It’s a very limited resource. Some people may not realize this if they aren’t involved in the resource but trust me, I’ve seen how fast the resource can be negatively affected by regulation changes, environmental changes, hunting pressure, and EHD disease. I wish we had endless timber and access for both residents and nonresidents, but we do not. Through proper regulations and reversing recent years regulation changes we can increase the quality/quantity of the resource to at least approach past years levels."
