Safety Harness Tether

I've noticed on quite a few shows that they use a rope style tether to strap themselves onto the trees. Where can you get these? I like that idea rather than the buckle style I have now.
Thanks,
Jason

I just seen them listed in cabelas in the last two magazines I received. I am going to be buying one soon. They are going for 24.99 with 8ft of rope. The quick connects just suck. They don't give you much room. I believe HSS makes them now.

Thanks. I hunt some pretty large maple trees and the straps don't seem to run very long. 8ft of line should be fine, plus no loud metal buckles. I always seem to clank them when throwing them around the back of the tree.

Summitt stands company sells safety harnasses and all of their stands come with a Prussic knot on a rope for the safety tether. I have used these for years and the prussic knot is a very nice feature.

Liv,
Is it the HSS quick connects you don't like? I'm upgading to the pro series vest and was going to get a couple of quick connects. My biggest problem is not having enough length in the system to let me move around.

Same here... I am after a longer teather from the tree to my harness. Would these prissic knot ropes work? I was thinking of trying to get a length of mountain climbing rope rigged up with a carabeiner.

A thought to think...

I put a sturdy strap with a metal link attached, electrical taped to eliminate noise, around all of my trees and leave it there all season. When I climb the tree I already have my safety harness and I just clip onto the metal link and I'm good. If you aren't leaving stands out though it may not be as practical, but if you are, this works pretty well.

The prussic knots are the way to go. Very quiet and easy to adjust. You can buy $20 worth of the set up rope at the farm store and make about 10 of them for different stand setups

I got one with my Razor SS and I use it for every stand now. These are THE way to go for tethering to the tree. They're nice and long too, pretty much haven't had a problem getting one around even the widest tree. Also real easy to adjust how much slack you want between hunter and tree when standing by simply sliding the knot.

Yeah the quick connects are way tooo short. You can't move with them. I too have been using the prussic knot that comes with the LW stands. I would like to get rid of the quick connect because it is noisy. I am going to buy the one in Cabelas. I don't trust much that I make :)

I'm wanting to get a little more (not much) legnth between my harness and the tree. I'm a big guy and the little straps are so short that they restrict my movement. But, because I'm a big guy, I usually try to over do the safety aspect, such as strong straps/rope.

Just ordered one with Cabelas. I'm going to check it out, and will probably make more. I'm planning on doing this for myself and my son, as we hunt out of the same trees (he's 13). This will be a quiet and easy way to get us both strapped into our trees.
