a 50lb bag of stock salt costs less then $5.00 at the feed store. Works better on ice then rock salt and spreads further. Think about that next time you're paying $8-$10 for a 25lb bag of rock salt at the store.

Get your wifes blow dryer out and heat it away.

I will admit that salt doesnt do any favors to concrete but I dont what else to use when you get ice.
 
Not sure what to do besides salt once the concrete is in, but, if you are planning on putting a new driveway in anytime soon... geothermal lines in the concrete...
 
Funny you say that AirAssalt, I am in the construction phase right now. They have already poured the concrete and are triming out the inside of the house right now. I just wanted to keep my concrete nice and tidy. Oh well, looks like the old lady will be missing her hair dryer.

Sounds like I spoke too late, huh.. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif We heat one of the bays in our Truck Shop back home with the geothermal lines in the concrete, and I tell u what.... it about makes me want to take a nap on a cozy, warm, hard floor everytime I get on a creeper.. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif
 
10 4 to that. In floor heat is the only way to go if you are putting up a new shop or putting in a new concrete floor.

Same stuff that's in most ice melt products (sodium chloride) so they'll all do it if overapplied.
 
Nitrogen fertillizer is what we reccommend for helipads. Kinda pricey, but it works, doesn't harm cememnt and is noncorosive when tracked into the helicopter and it actually helps the grass next spring. Potasium chloride works too, but it still leaves residue.
