A Few Steps Ahead Of You
Well, I got pix of this tall buck this past week. When I initially saw the picture, my first thoughts were "it's Top-Hat", but then I looked closer without comparing him to last year's pic. He seemed too clean this year.... Curiosity got the best of me and I pulled up last year's pix and I was quite surprised at the similarities...

I am thinking it could be him, but not 100% yet. THere are many similarities, but still quite a few differences. Both pix were taken just under a mile apart, which isn't too much as summer home ranges have been known to vary from fall.

I would say yes without a doubt. The deers right brow is weak in this years picture and non existant in last years and the main beams have the same kind of structure with the right not going as wide. He is still tall and I would say without a doubt yes.
 
Oh boy, thats a tough one. I would say no. I think he would keep the compact nature of his rack, this one seems a little more spread out and I do see the differences in the mainbeams. What I mean is one is lower and higher but I don't know jack crap so take it for what its worth. Beer drinking thingamajigger! Couldn't figure out how to put it on.
 
id say no by the white on his neck looks different and so do the ears, but the white around his eyes looks alot like the first one. Also the left side is alittle higher in the second picture alot like the first picture so im not 100% my guess would be same deer tho
 
Man...tough one! I'd say yes, with last years being a solid 3 yo and this year a 4 yo. Home range could be just that not that far to go really with dispersal, rut etc. The left G2 in 2010 was longer than G3, and this year opposite it seems. Brow is different L side this year which bothers me a bit, but the width and mass scream older deer but the same one. Either way 2011 is a shooter!
 
Very tough because there are many similarities like you said. IMO...I say different deer. The left brow on this years pic curves, last years doesn't. Tine length last year looks to be a little longer (velvet could make a big difference judging the length), beams last year seem much higher up than this years. BUT...like I said before, I do see similarities...tough one

Eennie meennie miny mo------------Well I am thinking it is the same deer. Very tough call no doubt about it. The pics show resemblance that is for sure.
 
I vote no. The racks have too many differences. Yes racks can change a lot from one year to the next so judging stricktly by the rack, who knows. What's makes my decision is the white patch. Completely different. Same genes, different deer.
 
I think it is the same deer. I have a shadow of a doubt in my thoughts due to the left brow being diff't but the doubt is outweighed by all the similarities. I say same buck, and a pretty dang good one at that.
 
That's a hard call! I would say yes, and if so he has grown a bunch from last year. If it is the same buck, look at his antlers in relation to the size of his ears...... He is substantially bigger this year.
