Sapling Fertilizer?

Morse Hills sells "Nutra Pro" that is a slow release 16-8-8 fertilizer packet, and also a 3-10-11 BioRush "booster" mixable liquid. Blue Hill Wildlife sells 0-20-20 pellets. What has everyone had experience with? I'm getting ready to try my hand at pears and chestnuts in April and want to make sure I have my ducks in a row.

I read somewhere that a guy takes manure and mixes it 50/50 with dirt from the hole to pack around the roots. I wonder if that would be a good route to go.

I asked the same when I started planting mine years ago.
Was told NOT to.
These new roots r very tender.
Good rule no fertilizer for the first year to b safe

Ive used the nurtipods on all my trees. Haven't had any issues....assume they are working as they should.
