Too bad the owners didn't "purchase" and chip an antler to up the charges. I know the idea has been floated but if you spend big bucks on a shed and someone steals it from your property I'd think there would be worse charges that would stick

Some jerk (maybe me) Googled his name and several social media posts came up on Facebook sites like Trophy Bucks of Iowa. The "jerk" then posted clips of the article in his picture comments on all of the sites.

The author of the NAW article replied to me with these emojis.

Yes, the little punk said the landowners were setting up fake Facebook accounts to shame the trespassers. He lied, they didn't.

MY HOOD!!!!!!!! Good gosh do we have a lot of issues!!!!!!
I just heard about this & heard it hit the newspaper today.
U get in areas with a “reputation”…. folks don’t realize the problems that come with it.
Sounds like fines were stiff …. all paid which is good.
I know some folks to thank on those increases in fines that were very much due!!!!

Unfortunately some areas are self created by social media posts. If you have the time and quick search can nail a home range for people. You can even strip metadata out of a image to get where photo was taken. All my hero shots are not taken on farm deer were taken

For sure!!!! Multiple guys that have been busted in our area had maps of our farms & last few years…. Would show OnX pins & “all the good farms” would be pinned.
Heck- first guy I busted on my farm, had maps on him…. Clearly I got the maps…. “Lakosky farms” & several others folks would know. Drury had shed poacher 5,969,028 busted this last weekend too. It gets so old & tiring. & some Might say “drury does promote himself or farms” but no one should have to put up with this. U have a “nice house” & guys break in because of it…. Sorry- no excuse. This $hit has to stop. Needs higher fines & penalties as it’s not slowing.

Truth is, we have good deer but so does a million other locations that don’t have spotlight & guys keep a lid on it. We have far less big deer than those farms as we get such a high rate of poaching & additional pressure on these “spotlighted” areas. I’ve got about 1/2 Mile spots in a few sections that the trees got ripped out by county (all good, they doing their jobs) & I’ve found 3 “darn good up & comers” I strongly suspect were shot from the road. Last year was finding them in area with crossbow bolts. We’ve never had a year where there is not multiple vehicles shooting bucks from the road in a variety of ways. It’s for sure more intense than “sleeper areas”. Farm I got in SW IA, less issues & age class is probably better & no one is doing a thing…. Including promoting the area!!!
