scent control

I wash all my hunting clothes in scent free detergent. I use the clothing wash here: Scent Killer Wash

I then put all my hunting clothes in a rubbermaid tote.

Between the wash, and spraying down before I go in the timber, I've had good luck. I've yet to buy "scentlok/scent blocker" clothes..

Shon

I do the same as Shon with a few small changes. I hang my clothes in a cedar tree after I wash them. When I put them in the rubber container I put a few cedar boughs in also. Every once in a while I will break the limbs and that will release more cedar scent. I put in new limbs about mid season.

I also wear wind pants, sweatshirt, and sandals to my hunting spot. I then take them off and put on my hunting clothes. After the hunt the hunting clothes go back into the container and the sweats go back on.

Like the other guys said with the scent free detergent. Store my clothes in a scent free bag after spraying them down with scent killer and don't dress until I get to the field. I also wash in scent free soap and shampoo and use some sort of non-scent deoderant. Finally, I spray down in the field and when the hunt is over the clothes go back in the scent free bag unless I sweated alot, in that case they get rewashed.

KRatz

Impossible to keep them completely scent free. Seems like the harder I've tried, the more I get busted. Wash them with baking-soda detergent, does the same thing as the name brand stuff..

I put them into a trashbag along with a bunch of dry leaves and shake the bag around a bit... I try getting the same kind of leaves as those in the trees I'll be hunting but I don't think it really matters all that much........

if you just hang them outside for a few days I would think the air/wind would remove about all the human scent...good luck.

Better hope 'Bonker doesn't see this thread. The razor and can of shaving cream on his avatar are a reflection of his own scent control method!

Im with Lone Wolf on this one, best scent control you have is PLAY THE WIND! Best advice I ever received. Both deer I shot last year I was wearing the clothes I wore to work with Bibs and a carhartt coat that just hang in my closet. No scent control there, I promise you that. I have a scent lock suit and did all the pine limbs and it seemed like they busted me quicker then if I did nothing. Just my opinion.

The biggest thing that I do is make sure the wind is in my favor. I do spray down with scent killer spray, but I can't honestly say that it has made a noticeable difference-maybe I just use it because I like the smell of the Fall Formula.
I also use unscented Sure deodorant and Ivory soap(it's unscented) during the season.
