Scent Drag Question

If any of you have been in your stand for any length of time over the last few weeks you've inevitably witnessed does traveling through, later to be followed by a slow walking buck, oblivious to anything but the scent before him (sometimes going the wrong direction). In order to increase my odds i'm considering using a scent drag to hopefully draw a traveling buck (or the does) closer to my stand. In the past i've used interdigital with poor results. Have any of you found a scent drag that works and what are your tactic? I would appreciate you input!

I've used Code Blue Whitetail Doe Estrous Urine with good success.Tie a rag to a string and start by a trail before you get to your stand. Drag it to 10 yards from your stand.You can walk the other direction 75-100 and do it again.I have had some bucks trail it like a dog,others smell it but not follow it.Just depends.Good luck.
 
I walk about 3 feet off to one side of a trail that goes in the same general direction as my treestand, then use a stick with a drag rag and hold it over the trail. That way the bucks don't get mixed signals when they smell human scent, then doe scent. Even if you use rubber boots and think your scent-free, this process seems to work for me every year.

One other thing (don't know if it works or not), but I've been starting out with a small amount of scent on the rag, then every 50-60 yards I add a little more, putting more on every time I do this. That way, the scent is stronger in the direction of your stand. Hopefully that way a buck that crosses your trail will come towards your stand, not away from it.

I've had great luck pulling two scent drags. One with Ms Doe Pee Doe Estrus and Ms Doe Pee Buck in Rut. I think it gives the thought that there is a hot doe and another buck has been trailing her. I tend to refreshen the Estrus scent ever so often as I'm walking.
 
I have had good luck using Special Golden Estrus with drags.
I go about 100 yards in two directions, depending on which way the wind is from. Human scent discipline is a key.
The other day I had a small buck run a doe around my stand, hit my scent trail and follow it right up my doe decoys back end. Even though he was not a shooter it was certainly fun to watch.
When I am done hunting a put everything in a zip lock bag and bring it with me.
I always try to "train" the bucks to come earlier, sometimes it works - sometimes not so well.
I guess that is way they call it hunting and not shooting.
 
I was able to get small bucks to come in two weeks ago on scent trails. I had one come up and smell the drag where it hung in the tree. Last weekend, I couldn't get anything to stop on the drag trails. I guess the real thing is better that what's in the stores.
 
I have limited faith in lg scent companies. To many little bottles and to few deer amoung alot of other ligistic problems. Some I'm sure are better than others. Anyhow.

Think of how a coon dog or Beagle follows a scent trail. They go in the direction the scent is strongest. Dope the rang up good and go with it. Then let the rag exposed where you can hit it with an arrow. Freshing it enroute makes for an unnatural trail.
 
Hunted yesterday 1/2 before sunrise to 1/2 after sunset. I got in 1hr early and drug "Mrs. doe Pee" 15 yds from my shooting window about 60 yds out down 3 primary travel routes. Saw 10 deer, 8 being does. Only one buck followed the scent. He was a basket rack missing one side. Passed on him. It was nice to see him follow though. The shooter that came through was dead on the does trail. No scent, grunt or can bleat was changing his mind. Haven't been busted all year so I know the de-scenting procedures are working. I think one more stand location change should put me on this buck. I'll let you know how I do. Thanks for all the advice.
