Sorry if this has already been covered at length. What brand of scent do you use? I've tried everything from candles to gels in the past. Last year I didn't use anything and was thinking of giving them a shot again this year. Do you buy the idea of all scents loosing their effectiveness b/c lack of refrigeration? Years ago an archery dealer here in SE Kansas stocked scent from a deer farm in IA. The provider shipped the scent cold and demanded that the dealer refrigerate the scent in the store. Both the buck and doe scent smelled more "natural" than anything I've ever purchased since then. There was not even a hint of amonia and it pretty much smelled like a "wild feed lot",

Try using a doe urine with Inter-digital gland. I sell it and can hook you up for $7.00 per 2oz bottle. I will only sell 2 at the least due to shipping. You can e-mail me if you want some at patrick@simpsonoutdoors.com

If not there is at least one other brand out there that has the inter-digital gland in it. I would take doe urine with inter-digital gland over any other scent on the market. Use a drag rag and walk to your stand through the shooting lanes, then hang it in one. I've had and my friends have had tremendous luck with this scent.

KSQ2, Where are you at in SE Kansas? John's Sports Center in Pittsburg just last year got connections with a breeder somewhere in the mid west.Bad thing, when it comes in it doesn't last long! Every shipment they get is dated and guaranteed to be no older than a week. I used it last year with good results.You can smell it and tell it's fresh.
 
I really have no preference, I have however had some good success with pete rickards,not sure why but I have had more deer around me with this scent than any other on the market.

Also, last year we ordered a gallon of scent off of ebay, it is guranteed to come from one deer only, not a collectio n stream like other breeders,it is shipped cold and it is a good price, something like 70 bucks for the gallon, which beats 10 bucks for 4 oz any day. This stuff stunk like no other, and again we had good success, will probably go that route again this year.

I use Iowa's own Mrs. doepee estrous. Sam Collora gave me a bottle last year and with the decoys the 4.5 year old came in lip curling the whole way just in time to get the shaft.
Sam was a very nice guy and because of his kind gesture of giving me a bottle for free I will only use his stuff from here on out. Plus I killed a good buck over his stuff. So thanks Sam!
 
I like using mrs. doe pee as well. I use both the doe in estrous and also use the mock scrape set for freshening scrapes and/or creating my own.
