Scent question

If you guys wana take it a step further they also sell scent safe clothing and boot bags. I know scentaway by hunters specialties works very well. I know scent blocker, scent lok and a few other companies sell similar products. They cost a little more than a plastic bag but I throw scent away earth wafers in with my non scent proof clothing and they come out smelling like dirt. Plastic bags are better than nothing but you can smell a stinky garbage bag when it's sitting outside, if scent is getting out that means scent is getting in as well. Hope that helps put a few more options on the table.

Blakeusmc, I'm aware of that, thank you for posting. Though, with the scent blocker like products you still have to spray down with scent eliminator and use special laundry detergent(no scent killer detergent-doesn't work with scent blocker) for it to work properly.

The plastics bags are more for storing and keeping scent out. I wouldn't use a garbage type bag because it's not air tight.

some of what I'm wondering is how often I should wash my clothing. Also, if I should bother with washing the shirts, pants that you would wear underneath your regular camo coveralls, coats etc. (Note: coveralls, coats would all be sprayed down with scent eliminator and be washed in scent free detergent prior to hunting).

I mean, I don't want to be doing laundry every night. I'm just thinking of storing my already worn hunting clothes with leaves and sticks like SE and not keep washing them everytime I wear them. Unless, of course, It would be unusually warm November day and I was sweating a lot.

you should still wash your base layers often. how often? depends, if you sweat at all those UA type base layers hold in alot of stink! its nice to have a couple different base layers because of this.

After washing my clothes I just have a single big tub, go outside and break off a bunch of evergreen branches and throw them on the bottom on the tub. After putting all my clothes, gloves, hats, etc... in said tub, I put one final branch on top and close the lid and it is good to go. Uncle taught me on a deer drive to stand in an evergreen for cover scent, so I figured it would work for bow hunting as well. This is what I used last year for my first time bow hunting and it worked out great!

I wash my base layers, socks, and underwear every time. I wash my mid layers every couple times unless it's warm or I get something on them. I only wash my outer layers if they're bloody or real wet/muddy.

I have a closet in the basement where I keep all my hunting clothes. My scent fee clothes are kept in an old dresser. Put them in a couple of the drawers with a scent wafer, and I do not have a problem with getting winded. Of you have an old dresser around, I highly recommend this method. Easy and very effective.

I was going to say it probably gets alittle to cold in November to be hangin clothes out.

Anyways, SE, Do you wash shirts and pants that you wear underneath your outer layers too or just your camo coats, coveralls, facemasks, gloves etc...?

I wash everything to start out with then just my base layers and socks every 2 or 3 hunts.
