Screw-in steps of Climbing stick?

I have always used ladder stands but I decided to get a hang-on stand and see how well I like them. However I don't know if I should get Climbing Sticks or Screw-in Steps. What do you prefer?

I like them both if you have good screw in steps and good sticks. You can still get up much faster with a set of 4 LW sticks though. If I had to hang stands and leave them I would use screw in steps. If I was constantly on the go, I would use LW sticks..... I hunt public 95% of the time so screw in steps aren't an option for me. Goodluck!!

I have a set of the LW sticks. LOVE them. So quiet So Easy.

However, I have 12 or so setups that get put up/left up way before season and those all have screw ins.

I have a buddy that can screw in 12 steps in less than 10min. He "hang and hunt"s with me every once and awhile. Hand full of steps and any stand he has left laying around and he can be up in about 20min. Personally Im so damn mad by the 8th step I dont want to put anymore in.

I was a screw in fan until I started using the sticks more. I have 8 setups, and using the sticks, I can still take one down and move it quickly if neeeded. With a little practice you get a good system worked out, and I can put one up stand and all in prolly 10 min. Since I am not carrying in and out each day I saved my money and bought a couple sets of sticks from Gander Mtn vs just one set of LW's.

i use the ezyclimb folding steps and i love them.i can fit 14 in my fanny pack and be on my way.i put up my stand and take it down when i hunt.they screw in fast and ive never had one pull out.they work for me,and i can hang a stand quick and with hardly any noise.

Got a set of 20' steps at theisen's last year for $35. I will never use screw in steps again. Even if you spend top dollar for the name brand ones so much faster and safer than hanging from a tree for an hour screwing in steps that never seem quite right when you're done. my votes for sticks

i have seen other people hang stands with sticks and steps and they both took way to long for me.each person has there own way of doing it.after hanging and taking down my stand and my wifes stands over 100 times a year this is the most efficient way for me.but its definately for everyone.

I like climbing sticks better, but, screw-in steps are cheaper, and it sucks a lot less when they get stolen...

Be Careful with those Ezy Climbs JClaws. Between my ole man and I we had 6 or 7 break at the rivet. My buddy also had one break and he fell about 6 feet and ripped open his leg from the one below it. Maybe they have made them better since a few years ago but be careful!!!! The problem starts if you stretch them a little too far or are putting pressure on them at an angle versus straight up and down. All the remaining ones I have now I use as bow hangers.

You should ask the land owner if he has a problem with screw in steps. Some don't like the holes in the trees. I have'nt used screw in steps for years. Climbing sticks is the only way to go.

I use both, just whatever fits the particular tree the best. For crooked trees I use screw in steps or rapid rails, for straighter trees I use the climbing sticks that stack together. For public ground I pack in LW sticks and stand.
