Right on schedule!!!! As expected. They add this last beauty!!! “Start with 500 & expand it each year. Stepping stone” as explained by those who are involved in the legislative process. These guys won’t quit until we become Illinois!!!

SF255 – Nonresident deer tags to outfitters – (O)

Sponsored by Sen. Green (Boone).

The bill requires the Natural Resources Committee to reserve 500 of the nonresident antlered or any sex deer hunting licenses for nonresidents who have made a reservation with an outfitter, as defined in the bill, that is currently registered as a business entity with the secretary of state and has maintained registration since prior to July 1, 2022.

Referred to Natural Resources

Terrible news for all.

That same thing happened to the maine moose draw. 10% of all tags used to go to non residents. Now 8% go to the draw and 2% go to outfitters . Who in turn sell them to rich non residents for over $15000. So you can now buy your way around the system. Money again. Maine always had the 5 auction tags which go to highest bidder. Those go for near $20,000 , isn't that enough??? The auction tags weren't bad, there was only five and the money goes back to moose research.

To see how much damage outfitters do to the buck age structure, just look at Pike County Illinois. If you want the good genetic 2-3 year old bucks shot then bring on the outfitters.

I’m a non resident that loves to hunt your state, but you are absolutely right on this. I hope it doesn’t happen

Your right outfitters in Iowa do not need to register or be licensed in Iowa .Bet thats about to change more money for the state.

So the state doesn't have a list of who is an outfitter? , but is trying to make a law to hand them tags???? Who would they give them to then?

It sounds like they would go to the outfitters that were actually registered and licensed as businesses prior to July of 22. In other words, the big name hunters and their businesses for the most part. It’s worded so that only a small few would get the tags which in return would be a major boost for their business. The guaranteed income would then result in more leased land and less access I’m sure.
